VERITAS Software Leads File System Software Market
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. -- VERITAS Software Corporation (NASDAQ:VRTS) , the leading storage software provider, today announced it continues to lead the worldwide file system software market with nearly 70 percent market share by revenue, according to industry analyst firm IDC. VERITAS Software continues to hold the No. 1 position in the file system software market, valued at more than $275 million, with nearly 10 times greater market share than its nearest competitor(i). "VERITAS continues to lead the file system market, a strategic component of the storage and server software market, as it has for many years," said Dan Kuznetsky, vice president, System Software, IDC. "VERITAS also posted the highest second quarter revenue gains among the top five storage software vendors measured in IDC's quarterly storage software tracker." While often overlooked, file systems continue to be the central repository for nearly all data in enterprise data centers. Without a high performance, highly available file system, even the most mission-critical application won't perform to its potential. "This year's IDC market share numbers reflect VERITAS's continued leadership in a technology that's an essential building block to enable utility computing through software, and a critical ingredient in today's heterogeneous data centers," said Brenda Zawatski, vice president of product marketing, VERITAS Software. "Thousands of organizations rely on VERITAS -- and the industry's leading file system -- for a foundation to automate and boost their storage performance on the widest variety of hardware platforms and operating systems."
