NEC Chooses Mountain View Data Software to Bundle in Enterprise NAS Product
TOKYO and MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. -- Mountain View Data, Inc. (MVD), a leading provider of Linux management framework software, today announced an OEM agreement with NEC in Japan. Under the agreement, NEC will offer its customers MVD Sync, which adds local and Internet distributed replication functionality to NEC's enterprise NAS product line, iStorage NV Series. "NEC is a world leader in providing enterprise systems and storage," said Kenichi Hori, chief manager, First Computers Software Division, NEC. "With Mountain View Data, we can offer our customers added value for disaster recovery and data distribution with MVD's replication technology using secure communication in LAN and WAN environments." MVD Sync will be available to NEC customers in Japan. The replication capabilities of MVD Sync add high-end functionality to NEC's iStorage NV series product line that delivers clustering, FC disks, NVRAM and TCP/IP Offload Engine (TOE) replication features. Specifically, MVD Sync lets customers replicate distributed data locally or over the Internet, to support star-shaped distributed data architectures (main host data in the center with replication at surrounding network points either locally or over the Internet). "MVD developed its network storage software and PowerCockpit Linux management framework software around technology originally created for high performance computing in National Labs and in demanding enterprise IT environments," said Cliff Miller, CEO of Mountain View Data. "We're honored that NEC has selected our MVD Sync product. It demonstrates the reliability, scalability and performance that our solutions offer customers from small business to global enterprises." MVD Sync is offered as a standalone application as well as a software module in MVD's flagship PowerCockpit Linux management framework product.
