C-DAC, INCOIS begin research on High Performance Computing

The Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) and Hyderabad-based Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS), have begun a joint research on High Performance Computing (HPC) in the field of Oceanography, officials said today. C-DAC and INCOIS signed an MoU for Oceanography research last month and the work on the three-year research programme began from August 2 at INCOIS campus here, they said. C-DAC and INCOIS tie-up, would significantly accelerate research and development activities to address large scale challenges in the frontiers of Oceanography and catalyse usage and enhance quality adoption of high performance computing in the field of Oceanography, said Goldi Misra, Group Coordinator and Head (HPC Solutions, C-DAC), in a release here. "With the help of latest technologies, C-DAC will ensure state-of-the-art HPC infrastructure to meet the ever demanding computational needs of INCOIS," the release said. INCOIS has established a Tsunami Early Warning System for 24X7 operation with all the necessary computational and communication infrastructure that enables reception of real- time data from all the sensors, analysis of the data, generation and dissemination of tsunami advisories following a standard operating procedure.
