Paradigm, the premier provider of advanced petroleum geoscience and drilling technology to the oil and gas exploration and production industry, has concluded an agreement with the University of Colorado (CU). The agreement brings the University's proprietary, state-of-the-art Automatic Fault Extraction (AFE) technology, developed through the BP Center for Visualization at CU Boulder, to seismic interpreters and geoscientists in search of economic hydrocarbons all over the world. The Automatic Fault Extraction technology both automates and enhances the process of identifying, extracting and modeling geologic discontinuities (e.g. faults) from subsurface seismic volumes. The technology and process can have a significant impact on exploration, production and drilling programs. Duane Dopkin, Sr. Vice President Technology for Paradigm, stated, "Seismic interpretation technologies, methodologies and practices must keep pace with the objectives of today's challenging exploration and production programs.
