Rogue Wave Software to Add Support for AMD Opteron Processors

Rogue Wave Software, a division of Quovadx, providing reusable software components and services that facilitate application development, today announced that it has entered into an agreement with AMD to add AMD Opteron processor compatibility to its Rogue Wave SourcePro C++ product suite. Under the agreement, Rogue Wave Software will add compatibility with AMD Opteron processors built on the AMD64 platform to its SourcePro C++ Suite, Edition 7, and the forthcoming Edition 8. SourcePro C++ users will benefit from the additional hardware and platform choices at their disposal and will be able to develop both 32 and 64-bit applications on Single- and new Dual-Core AMD Opteron processors. AMD64 technology users will be able to use SourcePro C++ Edition 7 with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3.0 and SuSe Linux Enterprise Server 8.1 operating systems and SourcePro C++ Edition 8 with 8 Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4.0 and SuSe Linux Enterprise 9.0. "Rogue Wave software and tools are integral to supporting the compute-intensive demands of today's application developers," said Pat Patla, director, server/workstation marketing, Microprocessor Business Unit, Computation Products Group, AMD. "The multi-core capable AMD64 platform provides application developers with optimal performance for multi-tasking and multi-threading, improved system performance and efficiency, as well as a stable infrastructure." Both Single- and Dual-Core AMD Opteron processor users will have access to the Rogue Wave SourcePro tools to further speed application development and AMD64 application optimization by reusing the business logic in existing C++ applications. Rogue Wave SourcePro C++ reduces the planning, development and testing involved in writing applications by providing cross-platform databases that allow developers to more quickly and easily build applications based on existing business logic. With SourcePro C++, companies can quickly build and integrate agile applications that can easily be migrated from one platform to another as their business and technology needs change. In addition to AMD64 technology, SourcePro C++ also supports Linux Red Hat and SuSe Linux on Intel hardware. SourcePro C++ also supports Windows, Linux and various proprietary UNIX operating systems. "The ability to efficiently develop enterprise applications while taking advantage of existing business logic is increasingly important to developers," added Thomas Gaunt, vice president of worldwide sales and strategic alliances, Rogue Wave Software. "We are excited to work with AMD to provide another set of hardware and operating system choices to our users in an effort to support their changing business needs." SourcePro C++ Edition 7 with porting to AMD64 will be available during the summer of 2005. Current SourcePro C++ customers can gain access to the Opteron version of SourcePro by contacting their Rogue Wave Software account executive.
