OctigaBay Demonstrates Breakthrough Interconnect and Management

OctigaBay will demonstrate industry leading latency on their RapidArray™ interconnect technology all this week at SuperComputing 2003. Embedded in the OctigaBay 12K high performance computer, this high speed interconnect directly links multiple AMD Opteron processors, eliminating interprocessor bottlenecks and significantly increasing application performance. The 0ctigaBay 12K, introduced November 3, 2003, promises three times greater price/performance over state-of-the-art HPC servers and offers scientists and engineers a new, cost effective platform for simulation, modeling, searching, sorting, data mining and other processing intensive applications. OctigaBay’s display and its breakthrough interconnect demonstration will be in Booth 2125 at SuperComputing 2003 in Phoenix, Arizona, November 17th-20th. The RapidArray interconnect combines custom communications processors with a 1 terabit switch fabric and communications-optimized software. This tightly coupled system is designed to deliver 8 gigabytes bandwidth and one microsecond latency between processors. The OctigaBay 12K embedded switching fabric and 24 intershelf links enable a wide variety of network topologies, and scale the system to 12,000 processors without any external switches, greatly reducing cost and complexity. “This is just the first demonstration of the ground breaking technologies that OctigaBay engineers are developing as we strive to deliver unmatched price/performance, reliability and usability to the HPC market,” said John Seminerio, president and CEO of OctigaBay. Also on display will be OctigaBay’s Active Manager, the company’s new state-of-the-art management system for the OctigaBay 12K. Designed to increase reliability and usability, Active Manager combines dedicated processors, an out-of-band management network and management software to produce a proactive, self-healing system. It automates the complex task of administering multiple processors, unifying all processors in the OctigaBay system under powerful single system command and control. Designed for ease of use, the Active Manager GUI helps administrators manage hundreds of processors with point-and-click ease. In addition to OctigaBay’s display, CTO, Dr. Paul Terry, is a featured speaker at 3 sessions during the conference: Management, the Key to Self-Configuring, Self-Monitoring, Self-Optimizing & Self Healing Systems Wednesday, November 19th, 4:30 pm, Room 11-12 Practical Supercomputing (Panel Session) Thursday, November 20th, 12:00 pm, Room 42-43 Innovations in Interconnect Technology Thursday, November 20th, 1:30 pm, Room 11-12 OctigaBay will also be demonstrating its Direct Connect Processor architecture as a partner in AMD’s Booth #2219.
