Topspin Selected as NEC's Strategic InfiniBand Technology Provider
Topspin Communications, the leader in switched computing, today announced a strategic partnership with NEC Corporation (Nasdaq:NIPNY), the leading computer manufacturer in Japan, under which NEC has selected Topspin as its InfiniBand supplier for high performance computing solutions. Under terms of the agreement, NEC will resell Topspin InfiniBand switching and I/O gateway products. "Topspin is a recognized leader in the InfiniBand market," said Yoshiharu Takeuchi, senior manager of HPC Engineering Center at NEC. "Customers demand optimum performance from their clusters, and Topspin's products offer a very compelling solution for this on a standards-based platform." NEC and Topspin are already working together on several large high performance cluster projects in Japan. "We are excited to be selected by NEC," said Patrick Conte, VP of Worldwide Sales at Topspin Communications. "Being chosen by the market leader in Japan is a validation of InfiniBand, as well as Topspin's momentum in the high performance computing marketplace." As part of the partnership, Topspin and NEC have also jointly delivered support for SCORE on InfiniBand. SCORE is an important clustering job scheduler application for high performance computing. NEC will be presenting its InfiniBand solution November 16-20 at the PC Cluster Consortium booth #1323 during SC2003, the annual high performance networking and computing conference.
