BEDFORD, Mass. - Voltaire, a leading provider of high performance InfiniBand solutions, today announced that Sandia National Laboratories has selected and installed Voltaire's high performance InfiniBand solutions to support terascale data and visualization development at its Albuquerque, New Mexico, laboratory. Voltaire's InfiniBand solutions are ideally suited to enable seamless, accelerated connectivity and scalability in high performance computing (HPC) environments. Sandia is using Voltaire's ISR 9600 InfiniBand switch router to build the first phase of a new, large data and visualization cluster that will support the Red Storm supercomputer. This initial phase consists of 136 Dell PowerEdge Servers with dual Xeon processors, with a peak performance rating of 1.6 TFlops. Voltaire's ISR 9600 is the highest port-count (96 ports) to be certified by the InfiniBand Trade Association (IBTA), distinguishing it as the most scalable, certified InfiniBand switch router on the market today. Sandia is also using Voltaire's intelligent InfiniBand-to-IP routers to achieve seamless connectivity to its IP networks, and Voltaire's intelligent InfiniBand-to-Fibre Channel routers for shared connectivity to its storage network.
