SAS Public Sector, RTI International Announce Research Partnership

CARY, N.C. -- SAS and RTI International announced today an agreement that will allow RTI scientists to use SAS technology throughout their organization for research and analysis related to health, environmental protection, education and training, economic and social development, and advanced technology. The agreement between SAS Public Sector and RTI also will fuel efforts for cooperation on various government and industry-related projects. SAS is the leader in business intelligence, and RTI is a leader in improving the human condition through cutting-edge study and analysis. This agreement capitalizes on the capabilities of both organizations by joining state-of-the-art technology from SAS with the breadth and depth of RTI's research centers. It formalizes a collaborative relationship that has been in place for some time. For example, RTI and SAS are partners in the Bioinformatic Integrated Support System, currently under development for the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. This project brings together RTI's scientific expertise, which includes one of the top three bioinformaticians in the world, with specialized JMP(R) and SAS(R) software solutions. RTI, a premier independent, multidisciplinary research institute headquartered in Research Triangle Park, has more than 2,200 employees worldwide. Since its inception more than 40 years ago, RTI has developed a reputation for pre-eminent research and development in health, engineering and life sciences. RTI conducts scientific studies and provides technical services to government and international aid agencies, commercial and academic institutions and public service organizations. "The agreement represents a major opportunity for RTI to work more closely with a prominent software organization that has a significant presence with our clients," said Don Camburn, RTI's research vice president for statistical, survey and computing sciences. "RTI's research staff will have access to a much wider range of SAS products than heretofore has been available." For more than a quarter-century, SAS has delivered technology that allows organizations to control costs, drive revenue, achieve capital efficiency and lead with confidence. Serving both the government and education markets, SAS Public Sector identifies government-specific needs and addresses business problems with applied best practices for repeatable and fully integrated technology solutions. "The enterprise agreement between SAS and RTI is significant because it allows us to join forces and collaborate as a team on government projects such as health, environmental, life science and aerospace and defense-related initiatives," said Jeff Babcock, vice president of U.S. Public Sector Sales. "The partnership between the two organizations illustrates our commitment to the knowledge and collaborative spirit that is crucial for discovery in bridging science and technology. RTI's scientists and staff will be able to harness and leverage the robust powerful nature of SAS software at their fingertips for societal progress and improvement."
