Ethernet Alliance Announces New Officers for IEEE 802.3 Ethernet Working Group

The Ethernet Alliance today announced that the IEEE 802.3 Ethernet working group has elected David Law of 3Com as the new chair, and Wael William Diab of Broadcom as the new vice-chair. Robert (Bob) Grow of Intel stepped down as the IEEE 802.3 working group chair, as he was recently appointed to be the chair of the IEEE Standards Association (IEEE-SA) Standards Board. In addition to the newly elected leaders, David Law has appointed the following officers:
  • Steve Carlson of High Speed Design as executive secretary
  • Adam Healey of LSI as secretary
  • Brad Booth of AMCC as treasurer

David Law, a Consultant Engineer at 3Com, has served as the vice-chair for the IEEE 802.3 working group since 1996. He currently serves as a member of the Ethernet Alliance Board of Directors and chair of the IEEE-SA review committee. Mr. Law has also served as editor and chair of multiple IEEE 802.3 task force projects, and served as a member of the IEEE-SA patent committee, procedures committee and standards board. In 2000, Law received the IEEE-SA Standards Medallion for 'Leadership and Technical Contributions to Ethernet Networking Standards.' Wael William Diab, a Technical Director in the Office of the CTO at Broadcom, served as secretary for the IEEE 802.3 working group prior to his election as vice-chair. Mr. Diab currently serves as a member of the IEEE-SA review committee. Previously, he hasserved as the editor in chief for IEEE Std. 802.3ah-2004, and as Director and Secretary of the Board for the Ethernet in the First Mile Alliance. Steve Carlson, President of High Speed Design, continues in his role as the executive secretary for the IEEE 802.3 working group and currently serves as the ESTA liaison with the Ethernet Alliance. Mr. Carlson previously served as secretary for the IEEE 802.3 working group and chair of IEEE Std. 802.3af-2003. Adam Healey, a Consulting Member of the Technical Staff at LSI Corporation, is the newly appointed secretary for the IEEE 802.3 working group. Mr. Healey previously served as the chair of IEEE Std. 802.3ap-2007 and Vice President of Technology for the Ethernet Alliance. Brad Booth, a Senior Principal Engineer at AMCC, continues in his role as treasurer for the IEEE 802.3 working group. He currently serves as the chair of the Ethernet Alliance. Mr. Booth previously served as president of the Ethernet Alliance, chair of IEEE Std. 802.3an-2006, and editor in chief of IEEE Std. 802.3ae-2002.
