Mellanox® Technologies Ltd., the leader in InfiniBandSM solutions, today announced the InfiniScaleTM III single chip InfiniBand switch device offering 480 Gb/sec total bandwidth. The third generation device features 24 integrated 10Gb/sec full duplex InfiniBand ports capable of non-blocking full wire speed operation. The device is the first to offer 12X InfiniBand link aggregation supporting 8-Ports at 30Gb/sec. This level of integration advances the state of the art in fabric interconnects, delivering the highest performing commercially available single-chip solution, far surpassing the port density of any other 10 Gb/sec technology. “This 3rd generation device is a key enabler for 10 Gb/sec communication throughout all computing markets,” said Eyal Waldman, CEO for Mellanox. “With 24-Ports integrated into a single device, the InfiniScale III replaces seven of the existing 10Gb/sec InfiniBand devices. With this level of integration, the device enables new design capabilities for server blades, embedded markets, enterprise database clustering, storage, as well as stand alone InfiniBand switches.” The InfiniScale III is the third generation in the Mellanox InfiniBand switch product line and complements a broad product line of InfiniBand host and target channel adapters. The InfiniScale III features 24 non-blocking full wire speed 10Gb/sec (4X) bi-directional ports. The flexible device allows each group of three 10Gb/sec ports to be logically bonded into a single 30Gb/sec (12X) port. The InfiniScale III is the first commercially available device ever, to offer 30Gb/sec InfiniBand performance. Advanced features include on-chip intelligence, management agents, advanced quality of service and flow control mechanisms, and programmable forwarding and congestion management capabilities. The architecture features a non-blocking packet switch design with an advanced scheduling engine that provides InfiniBand compliant cut-through latencies of less than 200 nanoseconds. The device integrates the entire physical layer of ninety-six 2.5 GHz SerDes enabling a 24-port switch to be built from a single device. The device consumes less than 20 Watts, and is thus ideal for power sensitive applications such as server blade interconnects, modular communications, embedded designs and storage platforms. The InfiniScale III fully supports remote direct memory access (RDMA) and the entire suite of InfiniBand software, delivering full kernel bypass capabilities. InfiniBand is the only technology delivering these capabilities for the complete range of data center applications.
