Mellanox Technologies Ltd., the leader in InfiniBandSM solutions, today announced the MTS2400 InfiniBand switch system powered by third generation InfiniScaleTM III silicon - the first switch of its kind to deliver 30Gb/sec links. The MTS2400 is a high performance, ultra-low latency switch, offering enterprise customers an industry leading 480 Gb/sec non-blocking aggregate switching capacity and wire-speed forwarding for all twenty-four 10 Gb/sec ports. This capability is implemented in a compact 1U platform with the option to support up to eight 30 Gb/sec links. Offering the best price/performance of any enterprise center class switch in the industry, the MTS2400 is designed for creating low cost, high performance compute clusters from industry standard servers. These clusters enable new attractive levels of pricing with record performance for data base applications and high performance computing. Thanks to the highly integrated 3rd generation InfiniScale III device with integrated physical layer and management, the MTS2400 is designed and built from a single InfiniScale III device in a compact, 1U form factor that consumes less than 50 Watts. Competing 10 Gb/sec switches don’t come close to matching the MTS2400 in price; 10 Gb/sec Ethernet switches average more than 20 times the price of 10 Gb/sec InfiniBand. In fact, with end-user per port pricing expected to be below $400, 10Gb/sec InfiniBand is less expensive than 2 Gb/sec Fibre Channel switches and non-blocking 1Gb/sec Ethernet switches. The MTS2400 is optimized for building flexible, scalable, robust and reliable InfiniBand fabrics for the server, storage, embedded, enterprise data center and high performance computing (HPC) markets.
