SGI OpenGL Shader Available for CATIA, ENOVIA and DELMIA Version 5

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.-- SGI (NYSE:SGI) today announced the availability of SGI(R) OpenGL Shader(TM) technology for CATIA(R), ENOVIA(TM) and DELMIA(TM) Version 5 Release 11. The availability of OpenGL Shader within Dassault Systemes PLM solutions will allow manufacturing customers to increase the realism of digital mock-ups at no additional hardware costs, accelerate the design process and shorten time to market for their products. SGI and Dassault Systemes (NASDAQ:DASTY) have collaborated to provide their customers with innovative interactive rendering technologies within Dassault Systemes PLM Solutions. OpenGL Shader functionality is now directly accessible to Version 5 users of CATIA, ENOVIA and DELMIA solutions through real-time rendering menus and interfaces without any coding or specific knowledge. "Close cooperation between SGI and Dassault Systemes has resulted in a new key benefit to our customers. By incorporating SGI OpenGL Shader in Dassault Systemes PLM solutions, we continue to develop an unrivaled offering for our worldwide manufacturing customers," said Larry McArthur, senior director, manufacturing industries, SGI. OpenGL Shader, the most powerful appearance-modeling tool for developers on the IRIX(R) and Linux(R) operating systems, provides an interface to support not only all previous visual effects (including ClearCoat(TM), ClearCoat(TM) 360, bump mapping, multiple textures, environment maps and volume shading), but also an unlimited array of new effects. OpenGL Shader achieves this flexibility through interactive programmable shading using hardware acceleration on standard OpenGL(R) graphics cards. "The flexibility and the high visual quality offered by SGI OpenGL Shader perfectly meets the expectations of Dassault Systemes manufacturing customers," said Laurent Laloy, director of research and development, V5 Interactive Architecture, Dassault Systemes. "Thanks to OpenGL Shader, designers equipped with standard OpenGL graphics cards can now easily and directly build the most advanced materials, thus providing digital mock-ups with an unmatched degree of realism within Dassault Systemes PLM solutions." CATIA, ENOVIA and DELMIA solutions from Dassault Systemes support industry-specific business processes to help unleash creativity and innovation, reduce development cycle time, and improve quality, competitiveness and shareholder value. CATIA supports digital product definition and simulation. DELMIA provides solutions to define and simulate lean digital manufacturing processes. ENOVIA delivers enterprise solutions that manage a comprehensive, collaborative and distributed model of the digital product, processes and resources. SGI offers the industry's broadest portfolio of technology, services and solutions for the manufacturing industry. These range from high-performance computing, visualization and storage systems to infrastructure software for managing large, disparate data sets, data and application integration, and collaboration. SGI also offers consulting and implementation services. Additional information about SGI in the manufacturing industry is available on the Web at www.sgi.com/manufacturing.
