Analyst Firm Places BlueArc in #3 Position Among High-End NAS Vendors

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- According to Gartner Dataquest's recent report "Network-Attached Storage Market Share, 2002," BlueArc(TM) Corporation, a leader in high performance, highly scalable network-attached storage (NAS), continues to build its presence in the storage market at the expense of traditional NAS vendors. In stark contrast to the revenue decline in the overall NAS market, BlueArc achieved growth of 350.2 percent during 2002, proving it to be the NAS market's fastest growing vendor. As a direct result, BlueArc has moved into the Number Three position in the High-End NAS market (equal to or greater than $100,000), which accounted for 65 percent of total storage market revenues in 2002. "BlueArc's growth, in spite of the current economy, is indicative of our ability to provide customers with a storage solution that meets both their current and future demands for performance, scalability and reliability," said Jeff Allen, senior vice president of Marketing at BlueArc. "Throughout 2002, we continued to expand our customer base beyond our high-performance computing roots to include companies in the bio-informatics, broadcasting, financial services, manufacturing and post-production/entertainment industries. The rapid adoption of the SiliconServer is proof that customers realize the benefits BlueArc's architecture provides over traditional software-based NAS solutions."
