Compaq’s Rabe Speaks on the Delivery of Europe’s Most Powerful Supercomputer

By Steve Fisher, Editor In Chief -- Compaq recently announced that it has built the most powerful supercomputer in Europe for the French Atomic Energy Commission (CEA). The machine’s primary purpose: digital simulation and testing of nuclear weapons. The Compaq “Tera” AlphaServerSC Supercomputer is seven times more powerful than any of Europe’s existing supercomputers and is capable of executing five trillion operations per second.
