Platform Computing Recognized for Second Consecutive Year at International Business Awards
Platform Computing has earned a Distinguished Honoree medal for accomplishments in computer software in the "Company of the Year" category in the 2011 International Business Awards (IBA). The International Business Awards are the only global business awards program honoring great performances in business. As a 2011 honoree, Platform Computing was selected for applying its already solid foundation in grid and distributed computing to address the evolving needs of IT infrastructure, marking the company's entry into enterprise-ready solutions that support business analytics and private cloud management. This is the second consecutive year Platform Computing has been honored by the IBA. In 2010, Platform ISF, the company's dynamic cloud management software, was recognized in the "Best New Product of the Year - Computer Software" category.
"By identifying market shifts and then applying our long history in managing distributed computing environments, Platform Computing has been able to transform technologies originally thought reserved for a select group of users into management solutions that have mass applications for improving enterprise ROI," said Jay Muelhoefer, VP Marketing, Platform Computing. "Private cloud management and business analytics were two developments along the spectrum, but we continue to look to the horizon for new markets and applications for our leading technologies and are honored to be recognized by the IBA for our efforts and continued growth."
The 2011 IBA judges honored Platform Computing's continued evolution, including application of its legacy workload and resource management solutions to make high performance computing (HPC), private clouds and big data analytics more accessible and easy to implement. Platform most recently announced the availability of Platform MapReduce, the industry's first enterprise-class, distributed runtime engine enabling companies to operate MapReduce applications in mainstream production environments. After a full year of general availability, Platform ISF continues to gain momentum across numerous vertical industries as the most open and flexible cloud management software product for enterprises to build, maintain and run private cloud Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) environments.
"Entries to The International Business Awards grew by more than 80% this year, and that illustrates the increasing importance of the IBAs worldwide," said Michael Gallagher, President of the Stevie Awards, presenters of the IBAs. "We congratulate all of the honorees, and we look forward to recognizing them for their achievements at our gala event in Abu Dhabi on 11 October."
