Riverbed Showcase High Performance at LandWarNet

Riverbed Technology announced its participation at the LandWarNet conference, taking place August 23-25 at the Tampa Convention Center in Tampa, Florida. The LandWarNet conference is the premier forum to bring defense and industry together to openly communicate commercial best business practices and government implementations. At the conference, Riverbed (booth# 1313) will showcase wide area network (WAN) optimization, satellite communications and application-aware network performance management (NPM) solutions for defense and intelligence agencies.

More than 13,000 organizations worldwide, across a wide range of markets, depend on Riverbed to understand, optimize and consolidate their IT infrastructure. Riverbed delivers hardware, software and virtualized solutions that overcome performance issues caused by distance, distributed computing, and ever increasing amounts of data. Virtualization, consolidation and cloud computing promise huge cost savings and improved efficiencies, but as users move farther from their data, slow applications and file transfers can stall these strategic initiatives. Riverbed delivers to the remote office and mobile workers the same "local area network (LAN)-like" performance, no matter where the private data center or public cloud may be. Riverbed continues building on its success in the WAN optimization, application-aware NPM and data protection markets with new and innovative solutions for accelerating cloud storage and access to applications and data deployed in public, private and hybrid clouds.

In July, Riverbed acquired Zeus Technology, the pioneer of software-based highly scalable application delivery controllers (ADCs), and Aptimize, a market leader in web content optimization, to expand its application performance portfolio. With these acquisitions, Riverbed extends optimization further into the cloud, better optimizes web applications, and extends the cloud optimization framework, enabling organizations to deliver applications and websites with a consistently excellent user-experience, whatever the demand, with the flexibility and economics of cloud.

Visitors to the Riverbed booth can learn how the company's WAN optimization and application-aware NPM solutions provide network visibility and control for accelerating the transmission of mission-critical data. This capability enables the defense and intelligence communities to create agile and responsive networks -- an essential element of a successful cyber strategy. Defense customers are able to achieve high-performance, secure access to mission-critical information by combining the market-leading WAN optimization capabilities of Riverbed Steelhead appliances with SkipWare functionality within the Riverbed Services Platform (RSP). The RSP is a protected partition on Steelhead appliances on which customers can run network infrastructure services and applications. The combined solution delivers hybrid functionality, allowing customers to use either Riverbed optimization technology, SkipWare for Space Communications Protocol Specifications (SCPS), or both as required. This gives defense customers a greater degree of flexibility in how they deploy Riverbed appliances, as SCPS is the standard for many inter-agency networks. In addition, this gives defense organizations the ability to reduce the size of the physical equipment needed, and run additional services and applications virtually -- where size, weight and power matter.

The theme of this year's LandWarNet conference is "Transforming Cyber While at War." Defense and industry leaders will discuss the proponency for how an agile and responsive network is essential for successful cyber strategy.
