The supercomputing community will once again gather this fall at SC11, the annual international conference for high performance computing, networking, storage, and analysis. The Technical Program has always been the primary foundation of the annual SC conference, with a paper quality and breadth of topics that brings attendees back year after year. SC11 will take place Nov. 12 – 18, 2011, and is expected to bring as many as 11,000 attendees from academia, industry and government from around the world to the Washington State Convention Center in Seattle.

As the practice of supercomputing advances and becomes more diverse, the conference committee has recognized a need to continue to grow and advance the technical program in ways that enable it to accurately reflect the state of the high performance computing community. This year the committee is extending the conference by a half day, presenting a full program of technical events on the last day of the Conference, Friday, November 18. 

Be sure to reserve a hotel room through Saturday so you can fully participate.

“The supercomputing community continues to push the extremes of high performance computing,” says Scott Lathrop, SC11 General Chair, “as the community addresses data intensive science, sets the standards for sustained performance, and continues to evolve towards exascale computing. The benefits of high performance computing can only be realized by connecting current and future generations of practitioners to learn how to use and advance the field.  SC is broadening community participation by engaging new generations of practitioners, engaging non-traditional communities of users, and by addressing requirements from a wide variety of disciplines. This growth of the community of practice is driving changes in ways we can not even begin to predict and will result in changes in the ways in which we develop and deploy technologies to meet the ever evolving global community needs.”

The last day of the conference, Friday, November 18, will include high quality technical papers, tutorials and workshops selected from among the largest number of submissions ever submitted to the SC Conference.  We invite the community to take advantage of the expanded Technical Program scope and content.

“The SC committee is continually looking for the best ways to keep the Technical Program of the highest quality and relevant to the most technically astute conference attendees while at the same time creating content that can help bootstrap new users and new disciplines into rapid productivity with high performance computing tools,” comments Bill Kramer, technical program co-chair. Jim Costa, the other technical program co-chair adds, “This year’s move to extend the technical program to a full day on Friday will help us ensure that attendees have the broadest range of high quality sessions possible to obtain the information they need from other professional during the conference this year.”
