Cavium Networks Powers Highly Effective Security Gateways From NETGEAR
Cavium Networks announced that NETGEAR, the cost-effective, standards-based unified networking solutions provider for small business and medium enterprise IT environments, has adopted the Cavium ECONA chip in their award-winning firewall solutions. Cavium delivers the performance and cost-effective components that power NETGEAR's reliable, affordable and simple security platforms.
Cavium's ECONA System-On-Chips (SOCs) provide best-in-class performance per dollar and performance per watt. With best-of-breed technologies like full offload for protocol processing for IPSec, SSL and DTLS as well as bulk encryption, the ECONA CNS3XXX SoC provides wire-speed crypto performance under 2 watts.
Customers choose both NETGEAR firewall and Unified Threat Management solutions to improve business productivity, mitigate web based attacks, and restore lost bandwidth without the high cost of traditional enterprise solutions. Recent third party testing showed that NETGEAR security solutions delivered market leading threat-management capabilities, and Gartner recently placed NETGEAR in the "challenger" section of the Magic Quadrant report on Universal Threat Management Appliances.
"With a complete portfolio of security, storage and routing products targeted for the small business and mid-enterprise market, NETGEAR is one of the most recognized brands worldwide for this market," said Linley Gwennap, principal analyst at The Linley Group. "Cavium Networks' broad portfolio of high-performance and scalable embedded processors is well suited to satisfying NETGEAR's needs. In particular, Cavium's ARM-based ECONA processor family enables OEMs to differentiate their products by offering ample processing headroom for value-added services without compromising wire-speed performance."
"NETGEAR's success partially depends on best-of-breed products from our processor suppliers, with a very stringent criteria for performance, product-readiness and cost," said Peter Newton, Director of Product Management in the Commercial Business Unit at NETGEAR. "Cavium's multi-core ECONA platforms met this criteria and delivered performance, features and power savings that enabled us to deploy our newest generation of small business focused firewalls."
"As a well recognized brand in the midmarket for their innovative products, NETGEAR has a strong track record for successful products," said Sridhar Gollapudi, Sr. Director of Marketing, Connected Home and Office Group at Cavium Networks. "Cavium is excited to be a part of NETGEAR's small business and midmarket product strategy. With constant product innovation we look forward to working with NETGEAR to deploy successful products for many generations."
