Permabit Technology Corporation has announced they were named Innovative IT Company of the Year by the Network Products Guide 6th Annual 2011 Hot Companies and Best Products Awards. These industry and peer awards from Network Products Guide honor achievements and recognitions in every facet of the IT industry. Winners were honored in Las Vegas on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 during the 6th annual dinner and presentations.

The Innovative IT Company award recognizes Permabit’s Albireo High Performance Data Optimization Software, the industry’s first OEM embedded primary data optimization software, introduced in June of 2010. Albireo deploys full feature sets and enables OEMs to deploy sub-file deduplication technology without impacting data integrity or storage performance. Albireo directly addresses the market need for data optimization technology that the alarming rate of data growth has created. Through a unified storage platform integrated with data optimization technology, Albireo delivers cost savings and provides a common hardware platform for both block and file storage.

Over the past year, Permabit has announced the second and third generation of its flagship product. In October of 2010, Albireo with new GX technology outperformed all data optimization technologies in Wikibon CORE testing. In April of 2011, Permabit announced the third generation, Albireo Virtual Data Optimizer (VDO), which introduced data deduplication and optional compression technology to standard Linux platforms.
