Max Planck Inst. to Serve as Demo Site for Rosetta Gene Expression Software

KIRKLAND, WA -- Rosetta Inpharmatics, Inc. and Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE:A) today announced that the Max Planck Institute (MPI) for Molecular Genetics, in collaboration with the MPI for Infection Biology (both in Berlin, Germany), and the MPI of Molecular Plant Physiology in Golm, Germany will serve as European demonstration sites for the Rosetta Resolver(R)Gene Expression Data Analysis System and the new DNA Microarray Scanner from Agilent. The Rosetta Resolver system is an enterprise bioinformatics system for gene expression data analysis developed by Rosetta Inpharmatics and exclusively distributed by Agilent. Agilent's next-generation DNA Microarray Scanner (G2565AA) scans industry-standard 1-inch by 3-inch glass slides and offers automated 48-slide scanning for increased productivity. "The Max Planck Institutes are dedicated to advances in basic research," said Hans Lehrach, director of the Max Planck Institute for molecular genetics. "We have a tradition of pioneering innovative technologies for use by our scientists. In line with this tradition, we will enable researchers to access Agilent's automated DNA Microarray scanner and the Rosetta Resolver system, an extremely powerful tool for gene expression microarray data analysis." "Agilent Technologies is pleased that the Max Planck Institutes will be using the Agilent and Rosetta platform to enable their gene expression research," said Bill Buffington, vice president and general manager of Agilent Technologies' Life Sciences Division. "The Max Planck Institutes will, in turn, allow greater access to the Rosetta Resolver system and Agilent's new open-systems-based DNA Microarray Scanner for prospective users in Europe. Our relationship with the Max Planck Institutes solidifies our continued commitment to developing the Rosetta Resolver system and licensing it to users in Europe and around the world." In addition, Rosetta Inpharmatics has launched a satellite customer service operation in Europe. The satellite office is housed at Agilent Technologies' facility in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. The new office allows Rosetta Inpharmatics and Agilent Technologies to provide high-caliber customer support to Rosetta Resolver system customers throughout Europe.
