Availant & IBM Announce High Availability Cluster Management Software
CAMBRIDGE, MA -- Availant, Incorporated, a leading provider of availability management software and services, today announced the completion of a joint software engineering effort with IBM for the development of the latest release of High Availability Cluster Multi-Processing (HACMP) for AIX(R). Since 1990, Availant and IBM have been engaged in a successful technology partnership for design and development of HACMP for AIX, IBM's industry-leading high availability clustering software. "Our continuing contribution to HACMP development demonstrates Availant's ability to provide value to industry leaders like IBM," said Mark D. Gagne, president and chief executive officer, Availant, Incorporated. "Further, it's a validation of our knowledge of the interactions between networks, servers, databases and applications, and the availability solutions we deliver in our own availability management products." "IBM and Availant have, over the years, sustained an excellent working relationship. Availant's experience and expertise in the area of high availability have definitely contributed to keeping HACMP well ahead of the competition," said Tilak Agerwala, vice president of business development, IBM. According to the company, AIX is widely considered the industry's most advanced high availability UNIX software. HACMP for AIX runs on IBM's eServer pSeries and SP systems and provides near-continuous application uptime by rapidly switching from one system in a cluster to another in the event of a hardware or software failure. To date, over 50,000 licenses of HACMP for AIX have been sold worldwide. HACMP for AIX is currently available on AIX versions 4.3.3 and higher.
