Sun Expands Portfolio of Developer Systems
PALO ALTO, CA -- Sun Microsystems, Inc. (Nasdaq: SUNW) today furthered its commitment to developers around the world by expanding its portfolio of flexible and affordable Sun(TM) Developer Systems in its Sun Developer Hardware Program, a developer resource offering the latest technologies, discounted pricing on hardware, and no charge development software. Starting today, the program includes the Sun Blade(TM) 1000 and Sun Fire(TM) 280R servers, as well as all Sun Cobalt(TM) products to enable developers to easily and cost-effectively integrate, deploy, and support Linux, Internet and server-based applications. Additionally, as members of the Sun Developer Connection(SM) Program (SDC), developers have the option to choose from a pre-selected set of systems, or to select individual hardware equipment based on their specific development needs. By joining the Sun Developer Hardware Program, developers receive a one-year subscription to the Sun Developer Software Enterprise Edition, which provides the latest cross-platform tools available on the Sun Solaris(TM) Operating Environment (Solaris OE) and Java(TM) platform. Also included is the Oracle Internet Platform software for the Sun SPARC(R) platform (offered as a one-time software offering).
