MTI Rolls Out Its New D100 1.7 Terabyte Direct Attached Storage Solution

ANAHEIM, CA -- MTI Technology Corp. (Nasdaq: MTIC), a leading provider of storage and business solutions, today unveiled the Vivant(TM) D100, a multi terabyte direct-attached storage solution that brings enterprise-class storage capabilities to departmental, workgroup and storage-intensive specialized applications environments. The latest entry in MTI's Vivant Series of high-performance, high-availability storage solutions, MTI's D100 can be easily attached to improve performance for high-use servers running data-intensive applications. The D100 extends the popular Vivant family features to applications servers used in office, data center and co-location environments. With best-in-class price/performance and a high-availability design, the MTI D100 enables convenient high-bandwidth storage for host servers that need direct access to large amounts of data. MTI's highly successful Vivant Series and DataServices(TM) architecture provide a new level of industry-leading high availability to end-to-end enterprise storage network solutions. The MTI family of products, including the new MTI D100, is designed to support the demanding data storage requirements of large corporate enterprises and departmental systems service database, OLTP, web serving and high-performance workloads, including imaging and digital video application. The flexible design of the D100 allows users to connect the unit to a single host via dual high-speed Fibre Channel connections, creating redundant data paths between the host and local storage, or to two independent hosts via independent 100 MB/sec Fibre Channel connections, allowing for maximum performance and local storage access. The dual-channel host connectivity is only one piece of the high-availability architecture of the D100. MTI has incorporated further redundant components and data paths for continuous data access to up to 1.7 TB of local storage capacity. The dual-host port connectivity is complemented with four Fibre Channel drive ports connecting to dual-ported Fibre Channel disk drives, ensuring continuous access to critical drive data even if one data path fails. TheRAID architecture includes a fully redundant Block Processor featuring dual RAID controllers, each with 128 KB of mirrored cache, delivering the optimal configuration of high performance and high availability. The custom MTI Block Processor performs all RAID functions, including parity calculations, striping, cache mirroring and error correction, eliminating the need for the host system to handle the burden of RAID processing. All standard RAID configurations are supported, including RAID levels 0, 1, 10, 3 and 5. The high-uptime design is enhanced with multiple hot spare disk drives adding another layer of protection of critical data. For more information visit www.mti.com
