Fibre Channel Industry Association Elects 2001-2002 Board of Directors

DENVER, CA -- The Fibre Channel Industry Association (FCIA) today announced the results of the 2001 board of directors election. The board is the governing body of the FCIA, responsible for the creation of programs to increase awareness of the multiple benefits of Fibre Channel. The FCIA is also responsible for driving hardware device interoperability through testing programs such as the SANmark(TM) Qualification Program and Plugfest. The 2001 FCIA Board of Directors: -- Dave Allen, LSI Logic -- Peter Dougherty, McDATA Corp. -- Mark Hamel, Compaq Computer Corp. -- Tom Hammond-Doel, Vixel Corp. -- Michael Hoard, IBM -- Skip Jones, QLogic Corp. -- Gordy Lutz, Seagate Technology -- Marc Oswald, BROCADE Communications Inc. -- Ed von Adelung, Infinity I/O -- Paul Talbut, FCIA-Europe -- Yuichi Arai, FCIA-Japan -- Chris Lyon, executive director FCIA The twelve-member board is comprised of nine elected directors from member companies, one from FCIA-Europe, one from FCIA-Japan and the executive director charged with managing the organization. Of the nine elected directors, five are incumbents from the 2000 board. The new board officers are as follows: The 2001 FCIA Officers Chairman -- Michael Hoard, IBM President -- Ed von Adelung, Infinity I/O Secretary Treasurer -- Tom Hammond-Doel, Vixel Corp. David Allen, senior product manager at LSI Logic, is responsible for product planning in the Storage Components division of LSI Logic. David has been a member of and active participant in the ANSI T11 Fibre Channel Standards organization since 1994. He has been involved in standardizing both the physical and protocol layers of Fibre Channel. Peter Dougherty is the director of strategic marketing for McDATA Corporation. He has over 17 years experience in the planning, analysis and deployment of I/O and networking solutions. Peter is a member of the IEEE and ACM and was formally a principal member of the ANSI SCSI/Fibre Channel and Optical Recording standards committees. Mark Hamel, an incumbent board member, is an employee of Compaq Computer Corporation working in the Advanced Technology section of the Enterprise Storage Group. Mark has been an active participate in several industry standards committees and organizations for over a decade. Currently, he is on the T11.3 committee and Alternate on the T11 Plenary committee. Tom Hammond-Doel, technical marketing director at Vixel Corporation, has been involved in Fibre Channel since 1994. A long-time Plugfest participant, Tom currently serves on the SANmark marketing committee. Michael Hoard, Senior Engineer with IBM, currently serves on the FCIA board of directors, and has taken a strong role in expanding the FCIA's SANmark Qualification Program. Michael has been a participant in the T11 standards community since 1994 and a FCA board member in 1997 and 1998. Skip Jones, director of planning and technology at QLogic, has been a member since 1996. Skip began serving on the board of directors in 1997 (FCA) and has since held the position of President and most recently, Chairman of FCIA. Gordy Lutz, a Seagate enterprise product marketing manager, has held numerous managerial positions in the disk drive technology field for over 20 years. Gordy's expertise includes product marketing, technical training, strategies, pricing, technical support and OEM sales. Marc Oswald, director of technology alliances with BROCADE Communications Systems, Inc., is in his second year as an FCIA board member. Marc has over 15 years of industry experience, driving customer adoption of client-server technologies, middleware, network applications and services. Ed von Adelung, director for laboratory programs at Infinity I/O, has over 19 years of experience in the communications industry, holding a variety of engineering and project management positions. Ed has served on numerous UNH steering committees including FDDI, ATM, 100VG-AnyLAN and Fibre Channel and is a current FCIA board member.
