E&S to Resell Carmel Applied Technologies’ Image Generation Software

SALT LAKE CITY, UT -- Evans & Sutherland Computer Corporation (E&S(R)) (Nasdaq:ESCC), announced today that the company has signed an agreement to become a value-added reseller (VAR) of Carmel Applied Technologies, Inc. (CATI) X-IG(TM) Run-Time Scene Generator software. Under the terms of the VAR agreement, E&S will offer X-IG bundled with its simFUSION(TM) PC-based image generator. The bundled package provides visual simulation for a variety of applications, including helicopter training, fixed wing, ground based, and marine applications. "Offering simFUSION and X-IG together allows us to provide our customers high-performance hardware and software solutions for their visual simulation needs," said Jeff Kirk, E&S PC Simulation director. "X-IG is the perfect complement to the image quality and OpenGL(TM) capabilities of simFUSION." "In many of our applications, we have found that the simFUSION systems provide us a significant discriminator in terms of quality, performance, and cost," stated Michael Ferranti, CATI's director of engineering. About simFUSION Designed specifically to address the needs of simulation content developers, system integrators providing low-cost training solutions, and computer-based training providers, simFUSION offers high performance under real simulation conditions and image quality never before available in its price range. A scalable system solution with graphics based on Evans & Sutherland's REALimage(R) technology, simFUSION allows users to work with their existing Windows host and applications. Key features of the simFUSION 4000 include 1280x1024 resolution, full OpenGL compliance, full-scene subpixel antialiasing, 32-bit true-color rendering, and ChanLock(R) channel synchronization. About X-IG CATI's X-IG visual system stands out in the competitive image generation field by providing high quality PC-based visual images with outstanding operational performance. The X-IG run-time software is a cross-platform image generation system that uses advanced optimization techniques to provide high quality rendered scenes, physics-based sensors, high resolution satellite inserts, flight symbology, and increased scene update rates. Its developers have selected a hardware-independent software interface, OpenGL, to integrate with graphics hardware and, OpenFlight(R) as the source for database modeling. About Evans & Sutherland Evans & Sutherland produces hardware and software to create highly realistic 3D images. E&S business units deliver high-quality visual systems for simulation and training in defense and commercial applications, digital theaters, and related applications throughout the world.
