Raytheon's SilentRunner Software Receives Patent
LINTHICUM, MD -- Raytheon Company announced today
that its SilentRunner(TM) software has been verified once again as a one-of-a-
kind network analysis system by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. With
the awarding of the patent, SilentRunner stands alone in the field of network
security with its Discovery, Visualization and Analysis system that allows
administrators to virtually "fly through" their company's network in 3-D to
look for unusual usage patterns which may signal a breach of security. "The award of this patent further establishes SilentRunner as the most
powerful technology in the network security market," said Jeff Waxman,
president and CEO. "SilentRunner offers unparalleled protection against the
large percent of attacks that come from inside the network." John M. Suit, Chief Technology Officer, and Christopher J. Scott, Chief
Architect, created the system of algorithms that make up the backbone of
SilentRunner, detecting patterns of network usage and identifying the path of
information. The technology, which does not rely on language or keywords,
analyzes the end-to-end flow of information across all parts of the network,
and alerts system managers to anomalies that may signify a potential threat. "The market for Internet security software is continuing to grow," says
Charles Kolodgy, analyst with IDC, a leading technology analyst firm.
"Internal network discovery and analysis is an important part of any network
security system, and SilentRunner's focus in this area, and its technology as
evidenced by the patent just awarded, sets the company apart in a very
competitive marketplace." In less than a year of commercial availability, SilentRunner boasts major
accounts in finance, brokerage, consulting services, healthcare and
pharmaceuticals. Additionally, SilentRunner has major agency acceptance in
the Federal government, and even garnered the prestigious "Golden Nugget"
award for major technology innovation. U.S. Patent number 6,253,337 was issued on June 26, 2001 for the
SilentRunner Information Security Analysis System. For more information, please visit http://www.silentrunner.com
