NEC Bundles TotalView as Standard Debugger for LX Series HPC Cluster Solutions

Rogue Wave Software announced that its TotalView application verification, optimization and debugging software is now available worldwide, through NEC, as a standard debugging solution on NEC's LX series HPC cluster solutions. Rogue Wave Software is the largest independent provider of cross-platform software development tools and embedded components for the next generation of high performance computing applications.

The NEC LX series is an HPC cluster solution widely used in the global scientific computing community. TotalView has been the standard debugger of NEC's flagship vector supercomputer SX series for many years. Its inclusion with the LX series provides developers with the advanced debugging and code optimization capabilities needed to efficiently develop software for high performance computing environments.

"IT solutions based on the NEC LX Series are more than simply technology," said Ms. Yukiko Hashimoto, General Manager of the HPC division at NEC Corporation. "Our mission is to provide solutions that enable customers and partners to receive the greatest value from their IT investments by leveraging HPC technologies. By including TotalView, with its powerful, easy-to-use debugging features, we expect that the capability and productivity of the LX series will be significantly enhanced."

TotalView is a comprehensive source code debugging and memory error detection tool that dramatically enhances developer productivity by simplifying the process of debugging parallel, data-intensive, multi-process, multi-threaded or network-distributed applications. TotalView for the NEC LX series includes MemoryScape, a dynamic memory debugging tool, and ThreadSpotter, a performance optimization tool for single and multi-threaded applications. Additionally, customers have the option of adding ReplayEngine, for reverse debugging capability, and support for GP-GPU programming using NVIDIA CUDA.

"NEC's decision to bundle TotalView as the standard debugger for the NEC LX series, as it has been for the SX series, reflects both our companies' determination to provide solutions that optimize HPC development for our customers," said Brian Pierce, CEO of Rogue Wave Software. "This agreement represents a continuation of our close and ongoing relationship."
