NetApp and CDW Provide 10 Petabytes of Storage Area Network Systems to Support Savtira Corporation Global Expansion
Digital streaming is reaching new heights. Savtira Corporation (Savtira), a new provider of B2B eCommerce solutions, today announced thatNetApp and CDW will provide 10 storage area network (SANs) systems at the size of 10 petabytes to deploy globally, enhancing Savtira’s Cloud Commerce system. For perspective, one petabyte can contain five years of NASA Earth Observing System data, while two petabytes can contain the equivalent of all academic research libraries in the United States.
“Words cannot describe how thrilled we are to obtain 10 petabytes of storage space through our partnership with NetApp and CDW. Our capabilities are tremendously enhanced, allowing our business and distribution partners, clients and their customers an almost endless access of digital ‘space’,” said Timothy Roberts, CEO of Savtira Corporation. “There is great opportunity here for content distribution partners to continue adding to our already immense catalog of digital (and physical) goods. This also allows us to continue expanding globally with ample bandwidth so digital streaming and interruption-free access to games, movies, audio/e-books, from any device can be achieved with few flaws.”
Selected for its innovation in the digital content space, as well as ease of use and seamless scalability, NetApp, an innovative provider of storage systems and software for cloud environments, in conjunction with CDW, a leading provider of technology solutions in the U.S. and Canada, will provide the major infrastructure expansion Savtira is achieving with its Cloud Commerce solutions system. Savtira’s Software-as-a-Service platform uses eCommerce to sell everything from downloadable entertainment to consumer goods. Savtira eStores are branded and custom-tailored for Savtira clients so that no two eStores are alike. All Savtira clients have the option to distribute millions of digital titles and thousands of physical goods from the Savtira catalog to their customers from their own branded eStore.
The platform includes Savtira’s carrier-class “Entertainment Distribution Network” (EDN), which streams all digital media from the cloud to any device. All types of software and digital media (business applications, games, music, movies, e/audio-books) are available to consumers on a rental or subscription basis. No download or installation is necessary. Consumers have the ability to pause media on one device and resume it on another. All data, state and configuration is stored within the cloud.
“NetApp is excited to be part of the significant expansion of Savtira’s innovative Cloud Commerce infrastructure by providing the most flexible and efficient storage foundation that enables them to enhance their cloud services globally and create competitive advantages to accelerate the growth of their business,” said Chris Cummings, vice president of product and solutions marketing at NetApp.
“This storage and streaming solution, supporting Savtira’s global service offerings and delivered through our Tampa office, represents the kind of business advantage that CDW and its partners deliver to customers nationally every day. We value Savtira as an innovative customer and wish them all success in their venture,” said Sean McGilloway, vice president of sales for CDW’s east region.
