Solarflare Showcases Leading Precision Time Stamping 10GbE Products at FIA Expo 2011

Solarflare will showcase its 10GbE server adapter with precision time stamping at the FIA Expo 2011, October 10-12, at the Hilton Chicago. Customers will be able to learn about the game-changing features of the SFN5322F dual-port 10GbE SFP+ precision time stamping adapter at Solarflare and Arista Networks' booth #1612, Northwest Hall. This new product enables a unique model for monitoring, auditing and analyzing high-frequency trading applications, extending the reach of precision time protocol to 10GbE networks. Solarflare's networking and hardware solutions provide a flexible, direct model for accelerating applications, while maintaining support for network and operating system functions.

Delivering the highest-performance, lowest-latency network results Solarflare's SFN5322F enables IT managers to extend the reach of clock synchronization with off-the-shelf 10GbE networking gear. The IEEE 1588 precision time protocol (PTP) is one thousand times more precise than previous generations, offering sub-microsecond timing accuracy, at a fraction of the cost of specialized network time appliances. The adapter participates in an automated time distribution and messaging scheme to accurately and consistently set time on all servers in the network to the correct time. By implementing Solarflare's PTP NIC, IT managers can improve the performance of high-frequency trading networks, while gaining greater transparency for internal compliance, and ensure conformance with external legal and regulatory requirements.

"Solarflare's solutions deliver extremely low latency and low jitter, at extremely high message rates, all without requiring the customer to modify their application," said Bruce Tolley, vice president of solutions marketing at Solarflare. "These features have helped us win banks, exchanges, trading firms and other scale out computing customers, providing a critical performance edge in a market where latency and performance matter."

Solarflare's application-intelligent 10GbE server adapters and OpenOnload middleware were recently deployed by CBOE Holdings and NYSE Euronext to enhance network performance. Implemented across CBOE's all-electronic C2 Options Exchange, CBOE Futures Exchange and CBOE Stock Exchange, CBOE technologist collaborated with Solarflare and Arista to enhance the performance of its CBOE Direct trading platform. NYSE Euronext also implemented Solarflare's solutions to accelerate several billion daily transactions and quotes processed across its liquidity centers. A top-selling solution on Wall Street, Solarflare's 10GbE hardware and software provide a new level of network intelligence by tightly coupling high-performance trading applications to the network, delivering dramatic improvements in performance, bandwidth and response time.
