Kaminario Releases White Paper on Accelerating the Performance of Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC)

Kaminario announced the availability of a new white paper on overcoming I/O limitations to accelerate the database performance of Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC).

The white paper, entitled "Accelerating Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) Performance with Kaminario's K2-Hybrid," examines how growing data volumes and computer-intensive applications can overburden databases such as Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC), often slowing operations and increasing response time to users. The white paper shows how hard disk drive technology cannot keep pace with the transactional and I/O demands of database environments, however solid state drive (SSD) technology resolves I/O-related performance issues by offering faster access times (low latency) and more IOPS.

The white paper explains how the introduction of SSD technology, and now the Kaminario K2-H (Hybrid) all solid-state SAN storage system, have changed the game for Oracle performance. In addition to reducing latency, SSD reduces cache fusion overhead and offers the bandwidth to be shared across multiple hosts without impacting performance. The white paper details how the Kaminario K2-H is specifically designed to address I/O wait times in Oracle RAC environments. The K2-H delivers higher shared storage SSD capacity with much lower cost and offers the ability to select the SSD media (DRAM or Flash powered by I/O Memory from Fusion-io) that is right for Oracle implementations. The result is breakthrough performance in a fast, easy and economical way.
