Allied Telesis Announces Next Generation IT Solutions for the Healthcare Industry at HIMSS

Allied Telesis is joining with cutting-edge technology partners to demonstrate the latest innovative healthcare business solutions, enabled by advanced IP infrastructure. These solutions create practical and cost-effective IT healthcare delivery options to interact and share information that improves quality of care. Demonstrations include advanced cloud-based imaging solutions for secure information-sharing among physicians, hospitals and patients regardless of location; a wide-range of clinical and educational applications made possible by interactive 3D medical imaging delivery; point-of-care bedside solutions for delivering clinician applications and profitable patient entertainment services; and IP video surveillance for healthcare facilities.

Hospitals around the world are updating their IP network infrastructure to support adoption of Electronic Medical Records (EMR), deploy new delivery systems, or inter-connect multiple departments and locations. With the rapidly growing use of digital imaging, real-time digital video and interactive video for vital healthcare needs, application providers are joining forces with Allied Telesis to leverage the Company's technical superiority and expertise in IP video solutions. The high-level focus at HIMSS in the Allied Telesis partner demonstrations is to highlight the benefits of secure and high-performance networking as the underlying foundation for the delivery of mission-critical business solutions.

At HIMSS 2011 (Booth #1201), Allied Telesis, along with its tier-one partners, will demonstrate the following healthcare solutions:

  • Networked Real-Time PACS Imaging (Intuitive Imaging Informatics) – Leveraging the Allied Telesis network backbone, Intuitive Imaging Informatics will demo its ImageQube Web-based PACS, which provides the ability to use cloud-based solutions to securely and efficiently distribute patient information. The ImageQube's comprehensive and efficient network architecture provides real-time radiology services to referring physicians and on-call radiologists. The ImageQube offers Critical Results Management, One-Click Interpretation, Paperless Workflow, iPad compatibility as well as the unique ability to run on any operating system (PC, Macintosh, Linux or Solaris).  Intuitive Imaging's technologies can accommodate any size practice.
  • Networked 3D Video Imaging (Sensavis Solutions) – The healthcare industry is utilizing 3D technology to inform patients, train staff and better-plan the way care is delivered. Today, healthcare professionals are able to bring clinical subject matter to life, visually and interactively. Sensavis Solutions will demonstrate real-time interactive auto-stereoscopic 3D medical imaging across a high-bandwidth, video-optimized Allied Telesis network architecture.
  • Networked Patient Care & Entertainment (Lincor Systems) – Lincor MEDIVista is an encrypted server-based and touch-screen terminal system. MEDIVista brings patient records, vital signs and other clinician information to the point-of-care, providing secure clinician access. It also provides voice, data and video patient entertainment at the bedside as a revenue service. Allied Telesis and Lincor will show clinician services such as EMR and imaging retrieval, prescription ordering and language translation along with Triple Play patient entertainment from a unified IP network.
  • Networked IP Video Security (Axis Communications & Milestone Systems) – IP video security and surveillance provides critical safety and security for medical facilities, its patients and staff. Axis Communications is the worldwide leader in network video, and Milestone is a global leader in management systems for the video security network. Axis and Milestone offer a variety of high-resolution IP security solutions for the healthcare industry that scale from small medical offices to the largest medical campuses. Allied Telesis partners with Axis and Milestone to architect a complete networking solution using Power over Ethernet (PoE), PoE+ and scalable platforms to optimize performance and value.

"The network has become a critical factor in the landscape of patient care," said Takayoshi Oshima, chairman, Allied Telesis. "As a network provider, we are committed to helping healthcare facilities deliver mission-critical networked solutions that can be easily accessed and streamline collaboration among the care team and facilitate better patient care. Working with our partners, we aim to create custom, easy-to-use solutions to address the individual needs of each provider, whether related to the management of data, the quality of patient care or connecting disparate members of the care team."

In addition to partner demonstrations, Allied Telesis is offering a range of professional services for the healthcare market. This includes a flexible suite of options for network design, configuration, interoperability testing, implementation and management, as well as ongoing network training and maintenance to ensure that customer investments are successful.

All demonstrations leverage the Allied Telesis SwitchBlade x908 Advanced Layer 3 Modular Switch. The SwitchBlade x908 offers high flexibility and density in a small physical size, providing scalable and versatile switching solutions for today's healthcare networks.  Each chassis supports up to eight high-speed 30 Gbps expansion bays, and is also capable of being stacked.
