Cloud Advisory Council to Host Webinar on RAMCloud

The Cloud Advisory Council, an innovative not-for-profit organization dedicated to develop and enable the next-generation cloud architecture, today announced a live, interactive joint webinar with John Ousterhout from Stanford University on RAMCloud, a general-purpose storage system where all data lives in DRAM at all times and large-scale systems are created by aggregating the main memories of thousands of commodity servers. RAMCloud provides durable and available DRAM-based storage for the same cost as volatile caches, and it offers performance 10-100X faster than existing storage systems.

“Over the last few years it has become cost-effective to use DRAM as the primary storage medium for data,” said John Ousterhout, Professor (Research) of Stanford University. “In this talk I will describe how to build storage systems based on DRAM, and why they are likely to enable a new breed of applications that use large data sets very intensively.”
