DataDirect Networks Confirmed as World's Largest Private Storage Company in 2009
DataDirect Networks has announced its recognized leadership as one of the world's largest data storage companies, and the establishment of DDN as the world's largest privately-held storage company, based on 2009 revenues.
"This is a tremendous validation of our decade-long commitment to helping our customers create more value out of their data and IT infrastructures," said Alex Bouzari, CEO and co-founder of DDN. "It is becoming increasingly important for organizations to store, process, analyze and distribute in real time the content and information which are critical to their success. DDN brings a very comprehensive set of technologies and capabilities, coupled with a long-term financial commitment, to fully support the next decade of content, cloud and IT requirements."
According to a recent report published by IDC[1], a premier global provider of market intelligence, DDN has furthered its leadership position within the storage industry as a result of an unprecedented growth in demand for scalable IT infrastructures in areas such as online content and social networking providers, high performance cloud and grid computing environments, life sciences, professional media and security and intelligence organizations.
Released in December 2010, the report illustrates a changing landscape as a result of the growth of new data profiles and storage industry consolidation, including:
- DDN is ranked, by worldwide 2009 revenue, as the world's largest private storage system company among those tracked by IDC.
- DDN is ranked among the world's largest storage companies providing branded, external enterprise storage systems, alongside EMC, NetApp and Hitachi.
"The steady growth of DDN's branded and OEM business is a clear demonstration of their ability to address the requirements of customers who are increasingly challenged with dealing with large amounts of content, file-based data and big datasets," said Natalya Yezhkova, research director, storage systems, IDC. "In 2009, DDN was the largest of private storage system suppliers that IDC tracks."
