RAID Incorporated Releases 2nd Generation Razor Storage Systems

RAID has announced that it has released the next generation of their popular Razor based 1U storage systems.

The new product will include faster storage processors, an interface upgrade from FC4 to FC8 as well as backend 6Gb/sec SAS 2.0 performance. "Essentially, the product can now deliver twice the performance from interconnect as well as the disk side," stated Bob Picardi, CEO and President of RAID.

The first generation Razor was built for small form factor and SSD based applications to address multiple customer initiatives.

The new "R2" offers exceptional price, performance and reliability. By consuming 80 percent less power than comparable solutions, the Razor drives down IT costs, reduces power consumption through a cooler enclosure, which results in better reliability. Its airflow requirements minimize the chance of encountering thermal issues.

The product supports dual controller, and (12) disks which support 300 and 600GB 2.5" SAS drives; the product also supports 64, and 120GB Commercially available Enterprise Solid State drives for both environmental and IOP intensive applications.

"The Razor gives organizations tremendous value, performance and reliability in a small footprint," continued Picardi. "It's compact enough to be used within military equipment such as tanks and cockpits and other usage applications which deal with similar space limitations that may be exposed to physical shock, and used as component of a business storage portfolio where disk drives are considered to be the limiting factor of performance."
