Vyatta and HotLava Partner to Deliver High-Density Gigabit and 10 Gigabit Routing and Security

Vyatta has announced a partnership with HotLava Systems to maximize gigabit and 10 gigabit port density on Vyatta routing and security appliances. Under the terms of the partnership, Vyatta will offer HotLava's four-port 10GbE and six-port 1GbE Ethernet interface cards as optional add-ons to the Vyatta appliance family.

"The common goal of delivering high-performance, low-cost alternatives to the marketplace makes Vyatta and HotLava perfect partners," said Bill Young, CEO of HotLava. "We are excited to work with Vyatta to offer high-performance networking using x86-based servers and accessories."

Driven by virtualization and cloud computing, 1 Gigabit and 10 Gigabit connectivity are requirements in today's datacenter, with over one million 10 Gigabit Ethernet ports shipping in the second quarter of this year according to IDC. By installing HotLava Systems' Shasta, Bosavi and Tambora adapters, IT managers can now scale Vyatta appliances up to 28 1GbE Ethernet ports or 16 10GbE Ethernet ports. This expanded port density and high-speed connectivity enables more cost-effective scaling of network capacity and is ideal for high-performance edge networking and large data centers.

"This partnership drives new market opportunities for Vyatta's x86-based routing and security devices in more data-intensive environments, such as virtualized datacenters and public/private cloud infrastructures," said Tom McCafferty, VP of Marketing at Vyatta. "HotLava's adapters provide the flexible connectivity options our customers need to ensure optimal network performance under the most demanding conditions."
