BOXX Technologies has announced that the 3DBOXX 8550 XTREME workstation will be demonstrated at the Autodesk University 2010 conference and exhibition at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Nov.30-Dec. 2.

Featuring dual, performance-enhanced, Intel Xeon 5600 Series processors and available with up to four NVIDIA GPUs, 8550 XTREME is the fastest workstation in the world. In fact, the results of recent SPEC/GWPG (Graphics & Workstation Performance Group) and CINEBENCH independent bench mark testing confirm that, for creative software applications, XTREME is the top performing Xeon-based workstation on the market. SPEC/GWPG is a non-profit organization that sponsors the development of standardized, application-based benchmarks with value to vendors, research, and user communities, while CINEBENCH (developed by MAXON) is an advanced hardware testing suite that assesses a computer's performance capabilities.

Capable of reaching 4.2 GHz, 8550 XTREME features up to 12 cores of multitasking performance for design, animation, rendering, visualization, VFX compositing, video editing, and DI, and is designed to accommodate multi-threading, multiple applications, and complex production pipelines.

At AU 2010, 3DBOXX 8550 XTREME will demonstrate a variety of Autodesk products at Intel Booth #122 along with a BOXX renderPRO cluster. renderPRO is the world's first personal, desk side, dedicated rendering solution. 3DBOXX 8550 XTREME (with 4 GPUs) will demonstrate new iray GPU-based features within Autodesk 3ds Max at NVIDIA booth #401. Also, Autodesk 3ds Max product manager, Shane Griffith, will employ another 4 GPU 3DBOXX 8550 XTREME to demo new iray features in an instructional session "Join the Revolution: Rendering with iray."
