Anders – New high-performance low-power computer-on-module

Availability of its new CM-A510 has been announced by Anders Electronics. An ideal and cost-effective building block for any embedded application, the CM-A510 is pre-packaged with all components necessary to run most up to date Linux operating systems, says the company.

Based on a high-performance Marvell Armada 510 system-on-chip with an ARM v6/v7-compliant super-scalar processor core, the CM-A510 offers an on-board hardware graphics processing unit and video decoding acceleration hardware, while supporting a broad range of peripherals.

To lower power consumption and maximize portability, the CM-A510 includes DDR3 random access memory which uses 16% less power than traditional DDR2 systems. DDR3 includes advanced power conservation features like partial refresh saving system battery power by eliminating refresh for the portion of DRAM not in active use and offers a thermal sensor that minimizes refresh cycles when performance demands are low.

The small footprint and low power consumption of the CM-A510 makes for easy integration in portable and space-constrained designs. Delivering fast processing and a rich multimedia user experience, all in a low-power design, the Anders CM-A510 offers fast Internet browsing, HD video playback, 3D graphics, and a high-resolution camera interface.

Designed with connectivity in mind, the CM-A510 also features full WiFi support, implementing the 802.11b/g/n wireless connectivity standard, and offering a Broadcom 4319 chipset and on-board external antenna connector.

For embedded applications, the CM-A510 features a variety of display interfaces, PCI Express bus, two Gigabit Ethernet ports, high-speed USB ports, SATA interface, serial ports, general-purpose I/O lines and many other essential functions. User interface is supported by an enhanced graphics controller, USB interface for keyboard / mouse and an audio sub-system, says the company.

“We continue to enhance our portfolio of powerful yet cost-effective systems-on-module, in response to market demands,” said Rhett Evans, Anders Electronics. “The CM-A510 packs more processing power and more in-demand features into a low power, low cost package with a small footprint. To our clients, this ultimately translates into greater portability and performance, without compromise on either size or ease of integration.”
