CommScope A Two-Time Winner for Outstanding 4G Solutions for Wireless Backhaul

Two CommScope businesses--Andrew Solutions and Comsearch--have been named winners of the second annual Wireless Backhaul Distinction Award presented by 4GWE, the website of Technology Marketing Corporation (TMC), a global, integrated media company, and Crossfire Media.

Winners of the Wireless Backhaul Distinction Award were chosen based on their successful demonstration of commitment to innovation toward the 4G wireless evolution, said Carl Ford, co-founder and community developer, Crossfire Media.

"Andrew and Comsearch deserve acknowledgment for their achievements in advancing 4G and providing solutions in the marketplace," Ford said. "Their antenna products and network planning tools have been proven successes in helping customers solve wireless backhaul challenges."

"The nominated products from Andrew and Comsearch have proven their superiority and certainly impressed our panel of judges," said Rich Tehrani, chief executive officer, TMC. "It is an honor to grant this award to these CommScope businesses, and we certainly look forward to more innovative solutions from them in the future."

Andrew Solutions was cited for its one-meter ValuLine Vision microwave backhaul antenna, a microwave backhaul solution introduced in late 2009 that offers high performance in a smaller antenna size. The one-meter Andrew ValuLine Vision microwave backhaul antenna, with its robust electrical design, enables radiation pattern performance and gain levels that are similar to a 1.2 meter antenna and compliant to the highest regulatory standards.

Comsearch was chosen for its iQ.linkXG Version 9.1 next generation microwave planning tool, which was released in 2010 and offers comprehensive support for adaptive modulation radios. This new functionality was developed with cooperation between Comsearch engineers, major wireless operators and radio equipment vendors, resulting in a very flexible implementation that can be used to accurately design reliable, high-capacity microwave backhaul links. Adaptive modulation radios are able to automatically adjust the capacity and modulation according to the quality and performance of the radio channel. This offers operators the ability to achieve maximum throughput during clear sky conditions, while maintaining a robust, high-priority voice channel during periods of fading. Comsearch's flagship iQ-link product has been building its microwave fixed-network design resume since 1990 and has been responsible for the deployment of over a quarter million links worldwide. iQ.linkXG helps network engineers easily deploy microwave links by analyzing, designing, optimizing and maintaining a comprehensive database of their network.

"We are proud to be recognized twice by 4GWE for our new innovative solutions in helping operators with addressing microwave backhaul requirements," said Ted Hally, chief commercial officer, CommScope. "Throughout our company in every part of the world, we are focused on helping our customers evolve their networks efficiently and cost-effectively."

The 2010 Wireless Backhaul Distinction Awards winners are published in the November 4GWE e-newsletter and on the 4GWE Web site.
