PHD Virtual Technologies has announced PHD Virtual Backup 5.1 for VMware vSphere. The new release brings simplified deployment and integrated management to PHD’s award winning VBA (Virtual Backup Appliance) architecture, recognized as the most scalable virtualization backup and recovery solution on the market. PHD Virtual pioneered the VBA in 2006 as a better way to provide VMware backup and recovery. This unique approach is becoming a preferred choice for customers and managed service providers with large-scale VMware deployments.

Purpose-built for virtualization, the PHD VBA architecture enables backup and recovery to be deployed as a virtualized workload directly on the vSphere platform. This evolutionary approach allows PHD Virtual Backup to leverage the advanced capabilities of the virtualization infrastructure providing seamless scalability and integrated management through vSphere client. Unlike alternative solutions, PHD Virtual Backup removes the need to deploy and manage a separate physical server or software agents for backup and recovery of the virtual environment.
