Penguin Computing Releases Latest Scyld ClusterWare Enhancement: Scyld Insight

Penguin Computing is expanding the functionality offered through their compute platforms, storage solutions, and Penguin Computing on Demand? (POD). Announcing Scyld Insight?, the latest in innovations designed by Penguin Computing in their Scyld ClusterWare product line.

Scyld Insight, a new web based management system, defines the next generation interface to Scyld ClusterWare. This release simplifies the hybrid HPC model with improvements to the existing functionality for accessing, monitoring, and controlling local system resources as well as providing dynamic spillover capabilities enabling bursting from local resources onto POD. With the ease of burst capabilities, users have their choice of compute resources to complete their workloads when and how they need, thus shortening the time from computation to results.

"Scyld ClusterWare is recognized for simplifying the cluster experience," said Charles Wuischpard, CEO Penguin Computing. "With Scyld Insight, our customers can take full advantage of hybrid computing by bringing it into their organizations and making it an integral part of their overall computing strategy. These enhancements will enable true HPC computing in the Cloud."

Scyld ClusterWare is a fully integrated cluster management environment that combines Scyld ClusterWare's industry leading disk-less single-system-image architecture. Organizations can leverage the superior price / performance ratio of Linux clusters without the pain of individually managing a multitude of systems. Key enhancements with this release include:

  • POD Tools: Simplifies the dynamic spillover process and    remote job submission. Customers can easily burst from in-house clusters or workstation to Penguin Computing On-Demand (POD).
  • BeoWeb: Web services that allow for cross-platform access, remote job submission and monitoring.
  • Scyld Insight: New web management interface to monitor both physical and cloud-based cluster subsystems, event notifications, and rule creation.

"Organizations that have a diverse pool of users, limited IT resources or widely varying workloads already depend on Scyld ClusterWare to simplify their HPC environment and provide critical cluster management funcationality. Now, with this new Scyld Insight release, users will find it not only easier to manage and use their cluster, but easy to burst their workload to an on-demand resource. This hybrid high-performance computing model delivers access to supercomputing everywhere and anywhere," said Tom Coull Senior Vice President and General Manager for Software and Services at Penguin Computing.

Penguin Computing will be showcasing Sycld Insight and Penguin Computing on Demand (POD) at SuperComputing 2010 in New Orleans, Louisiana November 15-18, 2010.
