Cloud Computing to take off in Beijing with new joint venture
The Beijing Computing Centre and Mellanox Technologies have announced an agreement to build the Beijing Public Cloud Computing Centre, a laboratory that will further enhance China's cloud computing technology efforts.
The 40Gb/s InfiniBand-accelerated Beijing Public Cloud Computing Centre will provide China’s academic and commercial researchers with easy access to a high-performance computing cloud for their multiple scientific applications.
Utilizing the Beijing Public Cloud Computing Centre, Mellanox and the Beijing Computing Centre will collaborate on various research areas that are of mutual interest and that strengthen both parties’ research efforts within cloud computing. Main research areas of interest include Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (Paas), and other usage models of cloud computing for high-performance applications, as well as network security solutions, scalability and efficiency for cloud computing delivery.
