Appro Delivers 1U Linux AMD Opteron based Clusters

Appro, a leading developer of high-density, high-performance servers today announced the successful implementation of a High Performance Computing Solution for NASA JPL under a subcontract from Raytheon Technical Services Company LLC. Appro delivered five Appro 1U Linux clusters consisting of 160 nodes with a total of 220 AMD Opteron™ processors using Gigabit Ethernet interconnect. This High-Performance Computing (HPC) Solution will support the Tropospheric Emission Spectrometer (TES) task for NASA JPL. TES is scheduled to fly on the Aura spacecraft, currently scheduled to launch in the spring of 2004. The instrument will detect the distribution of gases such as water vapor and ozone at different altitudes in the Earth’s atmosphere.
