FiberLight Provides Fiber-Optic Network Infrastructure to Georgia Tech University
The facilities will be linked to 56 Marietta, an important carrier interconnection point in Atlanta. The network linking the facilities of Georgia Tech will offer low-latency platform that is required by GTRI to develop solutions through applied R&D.
FiberLight was chosen because of its potential to develop a secure network solution by integrating private network services and unlimited capacity. The 210-mile optical network of the company in Atlanta is developed in a diverse ring formation. The network extends from the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport to the suburban growth hubs outside the downtown region, which includes the cities of Marietta, Suwanee, and Alpharetta.
FiberLight delivered the fiber-optic network in just over three weeks. The company will handle and supervise the lateral connections between 56 Marietta and Georgia Tech.
GTRI’s Interim Director, Tom McDermott stated that the institute’s potential to interconnect data and research facilities would offer the security level required to deliver research data to industry and government clients, all over the U.S. The new optical fiber network would substantially enhance the bandwidth of a key redundant link of the GTRI at substantial cost savings.
