Platform Computing Receives Honors in First Annual HPC in the Cloud Editors' Choice Awards

Platform Computing has been recognized in the first annual HPC in the Cloud Readers' and Editors' Choice Awards, presented at the 2010 Cloud Expo in Santa Clara, CA.  The HPC in the Cloud team, including Tomas Tabor, publisher of HPC in the Cloud, and Nicole Hemsoth, managing editor for the online publication, revealed the awards on Nov. 1 on the HPC in the Cloud web site, and is presenting them on the show floor during the event. Platform was recognized with the "2010 Cloud Innovation Leader Editor's Choice Award."

Supporting Quotes:

  • "It's exciting to present this award, in its year of inception, honoring achievement at the extreme-scale, leading-edge of cloud computing," said Hemsoth.  "After much collaboration with our editors and contributors, we came up with a list of winners who were truly pushing the envelope in high performance cloud computing and really driving the technology forward.  We'd like to congratulate all of our winners and look forward to seeing the envelope being pushed in high performance cloud computing from the recipients for years to come."
  • "It's an honor to be recognized as a leader in cloud innovation based on the success of our cloud products and the three paths we've outlined for HPC users to take advantage of cloud computing – namely, grid to cloud, cluster to cloud, or virtualized server to cloud," said Randy Clark, chief marketing officer, Platform Computing. "Platform's 18-year track record of building distributed computing infrastructures has laid the foundation for today's cloud computing era – especially in bringing the benefits of cloud computing to HPC environments."
  • "HPC in the Cloud editors believe that Platform Computing is one of the top companies to watch in the HPC cloud space and are looking forward to seeing more innovation and customer success stories coming from the company and their wide range of cloud-related offerings," said Tabor.

Key Points:

  • In its first year, the HPC in the Cloud Editors' Choice Awards is determined through a rigorous selection process involving the publication's editors and industry luminaries to determine the leaders in the extreme-scale, leading-edge of cloud computing.  The categories include Cloud Innovation Leader; Cloud Security Leader; Cloud Platform Innovators; Cloud Ecosystem Innovators; Cloud Management Innovators; Cloud Networking Innovators; Enterprise Cloud Leader; and Cloud Outreach and Education Innovators.  The awards are an annual feature of the HPC in the Cloud publication.
  • The award is being presented to Platform Computing for its innovations in distributed computing, not just over the course of this year, but in facilitating the grid to cloud transition over the past 18 years. The company is being named the 2010 Cloud Innovation Leader due to its ability to successfully bring new products to market, expand its product offerings, communicate the value and importance of cloud management to the HPC community and provide a springboard for those considering the transition to cloud. As the market leader in HPC for almost two decades, Platform Computing's HPC cloud solutions are specifically designed with cutting-edge management and application performance optimization features to improve the utilization and resource capacity of HPC applications by leveraging the infinite compute capacity of the cloud.
  • The company offers three separate paths to make cloud building easier for HPC users by empowering them to dynamically scale and manage clusters to the cloud during peak workload scenarios.  Platform's cloud solutions improve utilization and resource capability of HPC applications through cloud environment solutions.  HPC clouds can be built to allow HPC administrators to handle unpredictable workloads, take advantage of cloud resources when internal resources are unavailable and push workloads to the cloud based on priority and required resources.  The company's HPC cloud solutions use a combination of Platform products, including Platform LSF, Platform LSF and Platform Multicluster and Platform ISF with Platform LSF.
