Appro’s Blade Servers & Workstations to Support New Dual-Core AMD Opteron
Appro, a leading provider of supercomputing systems, announced today that Appro’s new XtremeBlade, HyperBlade servers and workstations will support Dual-Core AMD Opteron processors. Appro’s high-performance and versatile servers are highly scalable for cluster solutions and are expected to achieve even higher performance with Dual-Core AMD64 technology. These products will offer the highest performing processor in the market providing a huge potential for Appro customers looking to get more computing power with less wattage. By supporting the new AMD Opteron processors, Appro will also take advantage of HyperTransport technology and AMD’s Direct Connect Architecture. “We are happy to collaborate with AMD to offer Dual-Core AMD Opteron processor-based servers and workstations as well as celebrate with AMD the second anniversary of the 32- and 64-bit AMD Opteron processor,” said Daniel Kim, CEO of Appro. “The integration of the Dual-Core AMD Opteron processor in Appro’s HPC blade servers and workstations will improve the overall customer value proposition in 2005 and beyond.” “The Dual-Core AMD Opteron processor is a perfect fit for companies like Appro offering server-cluster solutions for the high-performance computing and enterprise markets,” said Ben Williams, vice president, Commercial and Server/Workstation Business, AMD. “Appro’s blade servers and workstations supporting AMD64 dual-core technology will meet customers’ demands with excellent return on investment. In addition, Appro’s products take advantage of the reduced memory latency and increased data throughput enabled by the AMD Opteron processor's Direct Connect Architecture.”
