New iSCSI-Host Storage Arrays From Infortrend Offer 95 Percent Performance Improvement and Feature 6Gb/s Drive Connectivity
Infortrend has announced the addition of new iSCSI-host storage arrays to its EonStor DS family, offering enhanced performance as well as 6Gb/s drive connectivity. When compared to existing iSCSI arrays in the EonStor DS family, the newly announced models feature an increase in performance by up to 95 percent. In addition, 6Gb/s drive connectivity offers users better transfer rates, more accurate troubleshooting and faster system initialization and change detection.
Infortrend's brand new EonStor DS systems offer diverse configuration options, and are available with single or dual controllers and 2U/12-bay, 3U/16-bay or 4U/24-bay form factors. In terms of host connectivity, the systems feature four to 12 1GbE iSCSI host ports. The EonStor DS systems can accommodate 3.5-inch SAS or SATA drives, and can be scaled up to 112 drives through expansion enclosures. By combining high-performance SAS drives with cost-effective, large-sized SATA drives in an installation, users can achieve the highest ROI from their storage capacity, while fulfilling data requirements. Priced affordably, the EonStor DS systems allow SMBs to manage explosive data growth with minimal management overhead.
All products in the EonStor DS family are designed to provide advanced data protection functionality. Storage-based snapshot and volume copy/mirror help SMBs achieve high availability for mission-critical applications. Users can create differential and full copies of critical data sets and leverage these copies to carry out quick-service restarts in the event of damage to the storage system.
Thomas Kao, director of product planning at Infortrend, said, "Many SMBs are drawn to iSCSI storage arrays because they allow them to take advantage of their existing IP infrastructures to cost-effectively deploy IP SANs. The new models we announced today help SMBs improve the performance of their IP SAN and store their data more efficiently. With data growing in size and complexity, the new EonStor DS models can generate significant advantages for their business operations."
