HP Expands Converged Infrastructure Portfolio
HP has announced new Converged Infrastructure solutions in networking, security and scalable computing that significantly enhance the delivery of application services to business.
HP is improving the quality of application service in branch offices with a turnkey, all-in-one connectivity solution that eliminates the need for local IT resources. A new HP TippingPoint security service increases network integrity by providing granular control of application access, with the ability to block access to entire websites -- or features -- across the enterprise. For service providers, the new, specialized HP ProLiant SL6500 Scalable System provides a single, high-performance scalable platform for hosting, web serving, cloud computing or outsourcing a variety of applications. Innovations in building and delivering the HP Performance Optimized Datacenter (POD), a modular, container-based IT environment, enable service providers to rapidly expand an entire data center for application access in as little as six weeks.(1)
The new solutions are based on HP Converged Infrastructure, which provides clients with integrated servers, storage, networking and software. Converged Infrastructure is an ideal foundation for application service delivery because it offers an open, common architecture that is highly optimized and managed in a unified way. This allows clients to automatically tune their infrastructure to meet the specific requirements of their environments.
"Enterprises are realizing that applications are only as good as the infrastructure that powers them," said Dave Donatelli, executive vice president and general manager, Enterprise Servers, Storage and Networking HP. "HP Converged Infrastructure delivers significant advantages in deployment speed, performance, reliability and management of applications that provide organizations quantifiable results over traditional environments."
Streamline application delivery to the branch office
Branch offices typically have limited IT staff for deploying and securing applications, managing technology and ensuring reliable connectivity. Also, when applications are delivered over wide-area connections, they can suffer from insufficient network bandwidth and lower performance.
The new HP Branch Office Networking Solution is a turnkey hardware, software, application and connectivity offering that improves service delivery to remote locations. Through an open architecture, the solution integrates leading technology and consolidates branch office equipment, eliminating the need for local IT resources. Integrated partner technologies include Avaya Aura Session Border Controller powered by Acme Packet, Citrix Netscaler VPX, Microsoft Lync, NetScout nGenius Integrated Agent for HP and Riverbed Optimization System (RiOS).
For the first time, clients can easily converge multiple network infrastructure technologies -- LAN, WAN, wireless, unified communications, voice over IP and security -- that can be managed remotely from a single pane of glass. This allows streamlined application delivery and improved employee productivity.
Clients benefit from world-class service and support delivered by HP and its authorized channel partners who provide a single point of sale, service and accountability.
Increase business-critical application availability and ensure network integrity
Use of non-business applications, such as LinkedIn and YouTube, are increasing network traffic loads and adversely affecting application performance and employee productivity. In addition, some applications host third-party services or programs that contain malicious content. Traditionally, controlling access and use of these applications has been difficult to enforce across the enterprise.
The new HP Application Digital Vaccine (AppDV) service delivers specifically designed filters to the HP TippingPoint Intrusion Prevention System (IPS), which easily control access to, or dictate usage of, non-business applications. Its granular functionality allows clients to block access to entire sites or portions of a site, such as video downloads or third-party site surveys, to help reduce security risk and ensure network performance.
By simplifying the process of application control, HP helps organizations maintain integrity of the network and ensure consistent availability of critical enterprise applications and system services.
Accelerate application performance and efficiency for service providers
When supporting a business model based on large-scale application service delivery, service providers need to consider every CPU, millisecond, watt, dollar and square foot to gain a competitive advantage in the market.
The new HP ProLiant SL6500 Scalable System features a common modular architecture that can scale from one node to thousands while delivering breakthrough energy efficiency and performance of up to 1 teraFLOPS per unit of rack space. This standard platform can be highly customized and tuned with the HP ProLiant SL390s G7 server and HP ProLiant SL170s G6 server to meet varying application demands, such as high-performance computing, web services, cloud computing and hosting.
With mix-and-match compute, storage and graphic acceleration nodes in a four-rack unit enclosure, service providers can standardize on one system platform to host a variety of application services. By simply "plugging in" new nodes, clients can add more applications or services as their business grows. Additionally, a single node can be removed without requiring system downtime.
For service providers looking to quickly add incremental data center capacity, HP has introduced HP POD-Works, the world's first assembly line for HP PODs. HP PODs are 37 percent more energy efficient and 45 percent less expensive than a traditional brick-and-mortar data center. The new POD-Works speeds deployment of a self-contained IT environment by up to 88 percent compared to traditional build out processes.(2)
Availability
All solutions above are immediately available through HP or an authorized channel partner. In addition, HP works with partners to become original equipment manufacturers (OEM) of HP technology. Through HP's OEM Sales Partnership Program, partners have access to the complete HP portfolio, coupled with the best global pricing, warranty and service delivery available today.
