Enhance unveils 32GB dual-active fiber RAID server

Enhance Technology has unveiled a new high-performance RAID server, the UltraStor ES3160 FS. It boasts 16 SATA II or SAS drives for either 16TB or 32TB of storage, dual active-active RAID controllers, dual I/O modules, hot-swappable dual redundant power supplies and cooling modules. The new 3U server is an enterprise failover RAID system designed to deliver high performance Windows Clustering, as well as cross-platform high availability, SAN and virtualization applications.

The company touts the ES3160 FS's easy expandability beyond its own 16 disks (via a SFF 8088 port, allowing up to 128TB additional storage), a platform-agnostic web-based GUI interface, 4X 4G Fibre Channel (2x per controller) offload with load-balancing and fail-over, and its ability to have up to 16 hosts per logical volume.

In a RAID 5 setup, the ES3160 FS can achieve 812MB/sec sequential read speeds, along with 620MB/sec sequential writing (688MB/sec and 573MB/sec respectively under RAID-6). The SATA/SAS drives are available at either 7200 or 15Krpm, with 32MB cache, allowing easy RAID control with snapshots, multi-pathing and online volume expansion.
