GE Intelligent Platforms Taps Concurrent for Real-Time Linux

Concurrent has announced that Concurrent's RedHawk Linux software and NightStar application development tools are now available on GE Intelligent Platforms' GRA111 graphics processing unit (GPU). Concurrent's software delivers enhanced performance for the rugged military and aerospace markets served by GE Intelligent Platforms GPUs.

"Many customers are looking for low latency and determinism in the applications they are developing on platforms like our MAGIC1, which is based on our CUDA-enabled GRA111 GPU, and Concurrent real-time Linux software helps them achieve this," said Rob McKeel, general manager of Military & Aerospace Embedded Computing at GE Intelligent Platforms. "Concurrent RedHawk Linux can be an important asset to organizations looking to take advantage of the many benefits that CUDA-based GPGPU computing can bring in terms of exceptional performance and shortened development times."

RedHawk Linux and NightStar tools are widely used in the development and deployment of hundreds of time-critical aerospace and defense, automotive, energy and industrial automation applications worldwide. The computational demands of these applications continue to grow. CUDA-based GPUs have the potential to bring an order of magnitude of increased performance to these industries.

"Combining the power of Concurrent's RedHawk Real-Time Linux with GE Intelligent Platforms products will bring new levels of performance to mission-critical applications that require multicore parallel processing, such as radar data and signal analysis," said Ken Jackson, Concurrent vice president, Real-Time. "Our cutting-edge technology will provide cost-effective, high-performance, real-time capability to GE Intelligent Platforms' diverse defense program customer base."

RedHawk Linux includes the latest available NVIDIA graphics driver and CUDA parallel computing technology, and it has been specially optimized to achieve the best possible real-time performance and maximum determinism. NightStar tools allow the user to graphically view the performance of CUDA applications and tune the behavior of multi-threaded real-time processes to achieve mission goals. Concurrent has made available an evaluation copy of RedHawk Linux and NightStar for distribution with the GRA111 GPU.
